Covers close area well. I would expect to have more depth in the search.
Directability
Completes task on second attempt.
Marking ability
Completes both single marks independently.
Handling game
Self-initiated recoveries, but time-consuming. Delivers well but could improve the returning part.
Tracking ability
-
Other characteristics
Swims peacefully. Alert during gunshot.
General impression
Dog that is in the control of the handler. Completes the test today. Defects in handling game
and search affect on the grade.
Tasks of the test were following: Single mark to the reeds ~30m (seagull as game), blind retrieve ~30m (crow),
long watermark ~50-60m (seagull) and free search (rabbit, pheasant, crow and 3 seagulls). Dog needs to be unleashed during the
whole test. Judge said that the handler should not wait for the dog delivering game on her knees which affected on the grade today.
Begins free search in nice way. Doesn't fully concentrate on searching,
which causes the result to be inefficient. However, finds game with time.
Blind retrieve
Proceeds directly to the bird.
Marked retrieves
Does the first one in straightforward way, same for the second one.
Handling game
Takes the game spontaneously. Good grip. Drops several game
during delivery.
Tracking ability
-
Other characteristics
Reaction to gunshot: alert during gunshot.
General impression
Dog that is willing to work. Does marked retrieves and blind retrieve
in straightforward way. Today has defects in effectiveness of free
search and delivering game which decrease the level of the prize.
Few 0 prizes..

CRITICS
Search area
Covers land area excellently, water area quite well. Uses his nose well. Could move more in the water area.
Directability (blind retrieve)
Passes the task, but mainly by searching.
Marked retrieves
Does the first marked retrieve in a determinated way. Does also the second marked retrieve independently, but could
do it more determinatedly.
Handling game
Picks the game independently, delivers them well to the handler except for the first one.
Tracking ability
-
Other characteristics
I would appreciate more gentle handling and less commanding.
General impression
Game-oriented dog that passes the test. Today defects in directability and a bit in control affect on the prize.
9.9.2007 Mjösund, judge Erkko Salo Beginner Class 3rd prize
CRITICS
Search area
Difficulties in proceeding to the area. After has got the wheels rolling seaches independently and extensively enough.
Fetches four birds of five.
Directability (blind retrieve)
Not yet sufficient enough to pass the task.
Marked retrieves
Locates the birds well and fetches them for the handler. (Two seagulls were thrown from a boat with gunshots)
Handling game
Some inaccuracy in returning once in a while.
Tracking ability
-
Other characteristics
Sufficient control during gunshot.
General impression
Co-operation could be better: dog needs to be supported and commanded once in a while too much. Thanks to successful
(thrown birds) location and well done search the dog receives prize.
